1899
Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre Company of Australasia Ltd formed and listed on the Australian stock exchange. The company mainly produces pneumatic tyres, but also a number of other rubber products including hoses, clothing and condoms.
1902
Eric Ansell joins Dunlop and works as an engineer.
1905
Dunlop decides to stop the production of condoms and Eric Ansell buys the manufacturing equipment and starts his own business from his rented home in Richmond Australia.
1929
Company name officially registered as E. N. Ansell & Sons.
1934
Company name changes to Ansell Rubber Co Pty Ltd
1930’s
Ansell moves into large state-of-the-art production facilities in Richmond where it makes condoms, gloves and a number of other products. It remains in these premises until the 1980’s.
1952
Eric Ansell dies and the business is run by his two sons Lloyd and Harvey.
1950’s and 1960’s
The business rapidly expands into a global company driven in part by continuous improvements in manufacturing excellence
1969
Ansell is bought back by the Dunlop Company
1981
Akwell the world’s largest condom maker, based in Alabama USA is the first major condom business acquisition after returning Ansell to the Dunlop company.
1986
Company name changed to Dunlop Pacific
1980’s and 1990’s
Ansell becomes the world’s largest provider of medical, industrial and household gloves.
1998
Pacific Dunlop purchases Suretex Group which has a large condom manufacturing facility in Thailand.
2002
The Pacific Dunlop company changes it’s name to Ansell Ltd
2006
Ansell acquires Wuhan Jissbon Sanitary products, including the Jissbon and Six Sex brands, forming a joint venture with Humanwell Healthcare group.
2007
Acquisition of the Blowtex condom business in Brazil and the Unimil condom business in Europe.
2008
Launch of the revolutionary SKYN® polyisoprene condom.
2010
Ansell creates the Sexual Wellness Global Business unit to optimise growth opportunities in the sexual wellness market.
2015
Ansell opens state-of-the-art Research and Development facilities at their largest condom facility in Surat Thani, Thailand.
2017
SKYN® becomes available in 42 countries around the world.
2017
Ansell sells the Sexual Wellness Global Business unit, including staff and brands to the Chinese consortium consisting of their joint venture partner Humanwell Healthcare group and Citic Capital.
